Emirates has announced the resumption of its flight operations to and from Dubai, effective immediately following a temporary suspension due to safety concerns. The halting of services was triggered by a drone strike that damaged a fuel tank near Dubai International Airport, leading to a fire that disrupted airport activities on 16 March 2026.
The airline has cautioned that some flights scheduled for the day remain canceled. Affected passengers have been notified and are advised to check current flight status through official channels before proceeding to the airport. Emirates emphasized that passenger safety is their highest priority amid ongoing regional tensions which could impose further operational restrictions at any time.
The drone incident highlights the persistent security challenges in the Middle East, which have periodically affected aviation operations in the region. Emirates apologized for any inconvenience caused and noted that travelers could modify their bookings within 72 hours via the airline’s online platforms. Authorities in Dubai confirmed that the fire from the drone strike was controlled and that further safety protocols are now in place to prevent recurrence.
