Emirates, the Dubai-based airline, has introduced a refreshed aircraft livery design in 2023, marking its third major update since its founding in 1985. The airline maintained its traditional white fuselage complemented by large gold titles and the colors of the United Arab Emirates on the tail. The redesign focuses on updating specific elements while retaining the core identity that has become synonymous with Emirates.
Notable changes include a more flowing and three-dimensional depiction of the UAE flag on the vertical stabilizer, with the red, green, white, and black colors extending across nearly the entire tail. The wingtips were also repainted red, featuring the airline’s Arabic calligraphy logo in white, enhancing visibility from both inside and outside the aircraft.
On the fuselage, the updated design enlarged and bolded the English “Emirates” title, while the website address was removed. The original scheme was created by Negus & Negus and has evolved over the years with inputs from Emirates’ in-house design team. The new livery first appeared on an Airbus A380 in March 2023 and has since been adopted across other aircraft, including the Airbus A350 and the large fleet of Boeing 777s, cementing a consistent brand image worldwide.
Emirates frequently uses its aircraft for special liveries to promote events such as Expo 2020 Dubai and significant national milestones. However, the classic white fuselage, gold titles, and UAE flag continue to form the foundation of its fleet identity, making the airline instantly recognizable globally.
