Etihad Airways has committed to expanding its fleet with new Airbus aircraft orders announced at the 2025 Dubai Airshow. The airline confirmed the purchase of six Airbus A330neos and a contract for nine additional A330neos through aircraft lessor Avolon, raising its total fleet of this model to 15. Furthermore, Etihad reaffirmed its investment in the Airbus A350 family by ordering seven more A350-1000 jets. The cargo division will receive up to 10 A350F freighters, expected to come into service later this decade.

Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves highlighted the strategic significance of these aircraft, stating that they enhance operations across medium-haul, long-haul, and cargo sectors. He noted that the A330neo offers efficiency and flexibility, while the A350-1000 and A350F add substantial capacity to the airline’s long-range and cargo capabilities. The deal also marks progress for Airbus's A350F program, which has faced delays due to market demand shifts.

Growth Ambitions for 2030

Following a strong 2025, Etihad aims to increase its fleet to 200 aircraft by the end of the decade, surpassing earlier targets. The airline also plans to carry 37 million passengers in 2030, up from previous estimates. Despite supply chain disruptions causing delays into 2027 and 2028, Etihad remains optimistic about its future expansion, leveraging partnerships and fleet upgrades to strengthen its market position.
