Etihad Airways has resumed its daily service between Abu Dhabi and Tashkent, marking a significant development in regional connectivity. The airline operates an Airbus A320 aircraft on this route, providing a direct link that allows passengers to connect onwards to other Uzbek cities through a strategic codeshare agreement with Uzbekistan Airways.
The new service, launched on August 9, 2026, complements a regional partnership that enables travelers to book a single ticket to eight Uzbek cities, including Samarkand and Bukhara. This initiative aligns with Central Asia's rapid growth as an aviation hub, bolstered by increased tourism and regional economic activity.
Operational Details and Strategic Significance
The flight schedule is designed for overnight travel, departing Abu Dhabi at 21:10 and arriving in Tashkent at 01:35. The return flight departs at 03:50, reaching Abu Dhabi by 06:35. This timing facilitates seamless connections to Etihad’s extensive international network, providing passengers with access to over 70 destinations worldwide.
"Uzbekistan is one of the most exciting markets in our network right now," said Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways. "This agreement offers travelers easy access to eight Uzbek cities on a single ticket, with direct flights from our hub in Abu Dhabi."
Historically a vital part of the Silk Road, Uzbekistan’s cities like Samarkand and Bukhara are now recognized for their UNESCO-listed sites and growing tourism appeal. The airline's expanded service underscores its strategic intent to position Abu Dhabi as a regional transit hub, linking travelers from Europe, Africa, and the Americas through Gulf gateways.
This development marks an important step in regional integration, enhancing connectivity and fostering tourism and business exchanges across Central Asia and beyond.
