In September 2026, Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) and Eurowings inaugurated their first joint airline training center in Düsseldorf, Germany. The new facility, located near Düsseldorf Airport, spans 2,000 square meters and is designed to train up to 150 participants daily, primarily focusing on safety and service operations.

The center initially serves Eurowings but is developed with flexibility to accommodate additional airline partners in the future, aiming to expand third-party training capacities within the Düsseldorf/Rhine-Ruhr market. Notable features include a cabin mock-up for evacuation drills, aircraft door trainers, Airbus A320 simulation equipment, evacuation slides, and an outdoor firefighting area.

Future Plans for Virtual Reality Training

A Virtual Reality Hub is scheduled to be launched in 2027, offering immersive virtual training scenarios for cabin crew and pilots, further enhancing the training infrastructure of the facility.

"Together with Lufthansa Aviation Training, we are creating optimal training conditions at Eurowings’ largest base in Dusseldorf with the new Eurowings Crew Training Centre. In future, our cabin and cockpit crews will be able to train here in a practical, efficient manner and to the highest standards. Our investment in safety and service quality on board is also a clear demonstration of Eurowings’ commitment to North Rhine-Westphalia as an aviation hub,” said Edi Wolfensberger, COO of Eurowings.

“Today’s opening marks an important milestone in our joint efforts with Eurowings to expand high-quality training infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia. Working closely together, we have succeeded in creating, within a short period, a modern training center tailored to Eurowings’ needs,” stated Matthias Spohr, CEO of Lufthansa Aviation Training.
