On December 23, 2025, the European Commission approved a total of €168 million in restructuring aid for Corsair, a French airline specializing in routes between France and its overseas territories. This support package includes a refunded loan write-off from 2020 and additional financing aimed at helping Corsair regain financial stability.
The aid is contingent upon certain conditions, including measures to limit market distortion such as reducing flight rotations and releasing airport slots. Corsair’s operations are based at Paris-Orly Airport and serve destinations like Martinique, French Guiana, Réunion, and Mayotte.
The European Commission has previously authorized aid for Corsair during the pandemic, with initial support of €106.7 million in 2020 and additional compensation for COVID-19 related losses. Recent investigations involved detailed assessments of the revised support plan, which was approved after Corsair repaid prior aid with interest and presented updated business plans and commitments.
The European Union’s rules emphasize that supported companies must demonstrate viability, self-sufficiency, and market contribution, preventing unfair advantages. The European Commission expressed confidence that these measures will enable Corsair to return to sustainability by the end of its restructuring period.
