European low-cost carriers (LCCs) have experienced mixed operational trends between 2023 and 2026. Ryanair and its associated airlines have maintained robust flight schedules, with peaks in August 2025 reaching over 100,000 flights, which is a modest 2% increase compared to the same month in 2023. The April 2026 figures also show a nearly 5% rise over April 2023, supported by the continued delivery of Boeing 737-8200 aircraft, with plans to incorporate Boeing 737-10 models later in the decade.

Meanwhile, EasyJet, which is the second-largest LCC group in Europe, operated about half the flights of Ryanair. In summer 2025, EasyJet increased its flight activity by 2% compared to 2023, but saw a slight decline of 2% in April 2026 compared to the same month in 2023. The Wizz Air group experienced significant fleet growth, leading to double-digit increases during summer 2025 and a 25% rise in flights in April 2026 relative to 2023. The closure of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and integration of its fleet into the main network contributed to this expansion.

“This industry adjustment indicates resilience and strategic fleet expansion across European low-cost carriers,” said industry analyst.

Overall, these trends reflect ongoing fleet modernization, strategic network adjustments, and industry resilience amid evolving market conditions.
