The European Regions Airline Association (ERA) has officially welcomed Sunclass Airlines, marking a significant development in Nordic regional aviation. This membership aims to enhance regional connectivity and promote sustainable flight practices across Europe.

Sunclass Airlines, based in Denmark and previously known as Thomas Cook Airlines Scandinavia, operates a fleet of Airbus aircraft serving routes throughout Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. The airline’s integration into ERA emphasizes its commitment to modern, fuel-efficient technologies and stronger advocacy for regional routes, especially in the face of evolving environmental regulations.

ERA Director General Montserrat Barriga highlighted Sunclass’s long heritage and its role in fostering resilience and innovation within regional aviation. The partnership brings valuable insights into the Nordic market, which faces unique geographical and seasonal challenges. Both organizations aim to demonstrate that regional flights are essential for social and economic cohesion in Europe.

Quote from Valdemar Warburg, CEO of Sunclass Airlines, stated: “Joining ERA strengthens our voice within the European aviation community and allows us to participate more actively in discussions about the industry’s future.” The airline currently operates an all-Airbus fleet of 13 aircraft, including models A321, A321neo, A330-900neo, and A330-300, all representing modern, efficient flying options for leisure travelers.

Through collaboration with ERA, Sunclass aims to contribute to the ongoing efforts for sustainable aviation fuel mandates and better airport slot management. Overall, the inclusion of Sunclass in ERA signifies a strengthening of the regional aviation ecosystem, preparing it to navigate future challenges while supporting leisure travel across Europe and beyond.
