The European Commission has announced open calls for experts to join the Board of Appeal of the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), with a submission deadline set for 31 May 2026. EASA, based in Cologne, Germany, plays a vital role in overseeing civil aviation safety and environmental protections across the European Union.
The Board of Appeal's primary function is to handle appeals against various decisions issued by EASA, including those related to certification, registrations, investigations, and fee assessments. It also reviews appeals concerning the EU Flight Emissions Label, a scheme providing information on flight emissions.
According to the European Commission, the appointment process involves compiling a list of qualified candidates from which EASA’s Management Board can select a chairperson, members, and alternate members. However, being on this list does not guarantee selection or appointment. Further information about the process and the call for applications is available in the official announcement.
