Eurowings, the German low-cost airline, has announced plans to extend its seasonal flights between Mostar and Stuttgart through most of the upcoming winter season. This decision follows strong passenger loads and high demand on the route, with load factors exceeding 90%, according to Mostar Airport's Executive Director Ibrica Berberović. Initially launched in May 2025, the service was restored after a public call aimed at improving connectivity at Mostar Airport.
The route currently operates twice weekly and will continue into the 2026/27 winter schedule for the first time, initially running once per week in November and December, with additional flights over the Christmas and New Year holidays. Service operations are scheduled to pause from mid-January until March 4 before resuming for the remainder of the winter period. The airport's management indicated that further timetable adjustments remain possible based on demand.
Further Growth and Future Plans
Mostar Airport anticipates handling over 70,000 passengers this year. It is actively seeking further route expansion in 2027, targeting markets such as Scandinavia, Turkey, Poland, Italy, and additional destinations within Germany. The airport recently issued a 'blitz' public call to airlines to announce new routes for next year, though outcomes of this initiative are not yet confirmed.
Eurowings also maintains flights between Mostar and Dusseldorf, complementing its network in the region. The airline's successful performance on these routes reflects growing demand for enhanced connectivity in the Western Balkans, supported by strategic scheduling and competitive load factors.
