Taiwanese airline EVA Air has announced a significant fleet expansion project, investing around $1.94 billion in new Boeing aircraft. The company’s board has approved the purchase of four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, aimed at supporting the airline's international growth and enhancing route flexibility. Alongside this, EVA Air plans to extend leasing agreements for four Boeing 777-300ER aircraft already part of its fleet, and will invest in cabin upgrades for six more of these aircraft, with a total cost of approximately $152 million.

This strategic move is part of EVA Air's broader efforts to modernize its fleet, improve onboard passenger experiences, and attract high-value customers through upgraded cabins and inflight amenities. The aircraft orders will bolster its presence in key markets, especially in North America, leveraging its hub at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport to attract transit traffic from gateways such as Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and New York.

Founded in 1988, EVA Air has grown into Taiwan’s second-largest international airline, operating a diverse fleet that includes Airbus and Boeing aircraft. It is a member of Star Alliance and focuses on expanding its global reach while maintaining high standards of service. The airline’s fleet renewal plans include orders for Airbus A321neo and A350-1000 aircraft, alongside the Boeing models, ensuring comprehensive modernization to meet future travel demands.
