EVA Air, a prominent Taiwanese airline, has declared its intention to expand and update its fleet through new aircraft acquisitions and lease extensions. According to recent filings, the airline will acquire four Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with each unit costing no more than $485 million. This move aligns with EVA Air's efforts to modernize its fleet and enhance operational efficiency.
Besides the new orders, the carrier is also extending the lease agreements for its existing Boeing 777-300ER fleet. The lease extension is part of a broader strategy to optimize fleet utilization and ensure long-term growth. Additionally, EVA Air is launching a cabin retrofit program to upgrade passenger experience across its aircraft.
"This order reflects our commitment to growth and sustainability," said EVA Air management. The Boeing 787-9s will complement EVA Air's current fleet, which already includes Boeing 777-300ERs, and will help meet future travel demands. The company aims to benefit from the fuel efficiency and increased passenger capacity of its new aircraft, ensuring competitiveness in the Asia-Pacific market.
