EVA Air has partnered with Acron Aviation to implement advanced Virtual Flight Deck (VFD) units for its Boeing 787 fleet. This initiative aims to support the airline's transition to a competency-based training and assessment system, allowing pilots and maintenance crews to interact with a real-time simulation of aircraft systems in a flexible environment.

The VFD provides a comprehensive, high-fidelity simulation of the aircraft’s cockpit, enabling users to operate and explore systems, practice procedures, and rehearse emergency scenarios at their own pace. This enhances aircraft familiarisation and procedural confidence, facilitating more effective and efficient pilot training.

Acron Aviation’s President, David Coward, emphasized that the Virtual Flight Deck is integral to an evolving pilot training ecosystem. He noted it offers a cost-effective solution to improve operational readiness and optimize simulator usage. The agreement also builds upon a longstanding relationship, with Acron Aviation having previously delivered three full flight simulators to EVA Air.

Founded as part of Acron Technologies, Acron Aviation provides a range of aviation solutions, including OEM avionics, simulation devices, pilot training, and flight data analytics, aimed at enhancing safety and operational efficiency across the industry.
