Eve’s eVTOL Prototype Achieves Horizontal Flight Milestone
Eve Air Mobility announced that its EVE-100 eVTOL prototype successfully transitioned from vertical to horizontal flight for the first time on March 10 at Embraer’s Gaviao Peixoto test facility in Brazil. This marks a significant achievement in the aircraft's development program, which began with its first flight in December.
The test involved the aircraft moving from a hover to sustained horizontal flight, demonstrating its transition capabilities essential for future commercial operations. Eve aims to develop aircraft that can safely and efficiently facilitate urban air mobility, addressing urban congestion and transport needs.
Industry experts view this milestone as a step closer to full certification and commercial deployment of eVTOL aircraft. The company intends to continue extensive testing to refine its designs, support regulatory approval, and enhance operational performance.
According to Eve, this successful flight underlines progress toward a future where electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft could revolutionize urban transportation networks, offering faster, cleaner, and more flexible transit options for city populations.
