In South Africa, the flight training organization Excellentia Airline Academy (EAA) has significantly expanded its fleet with the addition of 15 aircraft over the past five months, reflecting its rapid growth and acquisition strategy.

Earlier this year, EAA announced the acquisition of two established flight training institutions—Aeronav Academy and Skyhawk Aviation—hybridizing their operations under the EAA brand. These schools operate from Lanseria and Grand Central airports, offering flexible training schedules for aspiring pilots.

The expanded fleet primarily includes Cessna C-172, Piper, Diamond aircraft, and increasingly, Sling 2 NGT aircraft equipped with modern Garmin avionics and Rotax engines. EAA’s fleet is expected to grow from approximately 30 aircraft to over 100 within 18 months, and potentially reaching 200 within three years, aiming to become South Africa’s leading flight training provider.

The academy supports its flight training with advanced simulators that allow students to progress from private pilot licenses to commercial certifications, including operating aircraft in the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 families, preparing students for careers in commercial aviation.
