Boeing and CAE have reached a pivotal milestone in aviation training by securing initial qualification certificates from the FAA and EASA for their 777-9 flight simulators. Situated at the Boeing Training Campus in Gatwick, UK, these devices are crucial for enabling regulator-approved pilot training as the aircraft prepares for its commercial entry. The simulators feature high-fidelity replication of the 777-9’s advanced systems, providing pilots with an immersive training environment that closely mirrors actual flight conditions.
The collaboration between Boeing and CAE demonstrates their joint commitment to delivering innovative training solutions that meet international standards. The 777-9, the first aircraft of the 777X family, boasts enhancements such as large-format touchscreens, optional dual head-up displays, and specialized controls for folding wingtips. These features are designed to improve operational efficiency and pilot comfort, aligning with Boeing’s vision of a seamless transition to this new widebody aircraft.
Recently, other industry developments include a new training contract between CPaT Global and regional airline Z Air. This agreement supplies Z Air with specialized modules covering aircraft systems and safety procedures, along with tools for content management, showcasing ongoing investment in digital training technologies.
These advancements in simulator certification and digital training resources highlight the aviation industry’s focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence in preparing for the 777-9’s global rollout.
