Textron Aviation, based in Wichita, has announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has officially certified its latest aircraft model, the Cessna Citation Ascend. This updated midsize business jet is a development of the well-established Citation Excel series and is tailored to meet modern demands with enhanced performance and comfort.

The certification process included the completion of over 1,000 flight hours across two dedicated flight test articles, in addition to comprehensive certification tests. The aircraft is equipped with Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D turbofans and features a new cockpit design, Garmin’s G5000 avionics, synthetic vision system, and autothrottle technology.

Key Features and Delivery Outlook

The Ascend can reach a maximum speed of 441 knots (817 km/h), has a range of 1,940 nautical miles (3,593 km), and a full-fuel payload of 900 pounds (408 kg). Textron Aviation intends to deliver the first aircraft by the end of 2025, expanding its offerings in the competitive midsize jet market.

"The aircraft boasts an entirely new cockpit, improved performance, and luxurious cabin," said Textron Aviation. "Two flight test articles have completed more than 1,000 flight hours and numerous certification tests to achieve FAA certification."lockquote>
