The Routes Asia 2026 Awards have announced the finalists in various categories, spotlighting the remarkable achievements of airports and airlines across the Asia-Pacific region. The awards, set to be presented during the Routes Asia 2026 Networking Evening in Xi’an, China, on April 15, recognize excellence in route development and marketing support. Airports in different passenger volume categories, from under 5 million to over 20 million annually, have finalists that showcase significant growth and strategic initiatives in airline collaboration, network expansion, and infrastructure enhancement.
Among the airports in the under 5 million passenger bracket, Clark International Airport in the Philippines and Koh Samui Airport in Thailand are notable for their expanded international services and passenger volumes. Similarly, Langkawi International Airport in Malaysia and Siem Reap Angkor International Airport in Cambodia have achieved significant connectivity and traffic growth. The Yogyakarta International Airport in Indonesia has also demonstrated strong route development, especially with domestic and regional carriers.
The 5-20 million passenger category includes finalists such as Adelaide Airport in Australia, which reached nine million passengers and secured new U.S. and Asian routes, and Vietnam’s Cam Ranh and Da Nang airports, which expanded their international networks significantly. Nagoya Chubu and Penang International Airport in Malaysia are also recognized for their traffic growth and route development efforts, fostering regional connectivity.
In the over 20 million passengers category, Singapore Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport are prominent finalists, both showing impressive traffic figures and network growth, including new routes and airline collaborations. Melbourne and Sydney airports in Australia, along with Tokyo Narita Airport in Japan, complete the list, reflecting their roles as major international hubs supporting extensive route networks and airline partnerships.
These awards highlight the ongoing efforts of airports and airlines to recover and grow their networks post-pandemic, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and strategic marketing. The winners will be announced during the event, marking a significant milestone in regional aviation development and route expansion efforts.
