Finnair is set to increase its Embraer E190 fleet operated through its regional subsidiary, Nordic Regional Airlines (Norra), by 50% following a new collective labor agreement with its pilots. The airline intends to grow its E190 fleet from 12 to 18 aircraft to better serve regional routes and meet rising demand in Northern Europe.
This strategic move aligns with Finnair’s broader efforts to strengthen regional connectivity and optimize fleet utilization. The airline emphasized that the expanded fleet would support their growth plans in domestic and European markets, enhancing service capacity and frequency.
A Finnair spokesperson stated, "The increase in our E190 fleet will allow us to meet the growing demand in our regional markets and enhance connectivity across our network." This move is expected to bolster regional operations, create new jobs, and improve operational flexibility for the airline.
Overall, the fleet expansion underscores Finnair’s focus on agility and regional hub development in a competitive industry environment. The additional aircraft will primarily serve routes within Europe and to select North Atlantic destinations, benefiting both business and leisure travelers.
