Two senior female leaders from flyadeal participated in the Women in Aviation General Assembly in Riyadh, sharing their career experiences to inspire more women to explore diverse roles across the aviation sector. Rawan Aljehani, Head of Digital, Data & Business Intelligence, and Hazar Hafiz, Head of Marketing and Customer Experience, highlighted how careers in digital analytics, technology, and customer service are shaping the future of airlines beyond traditional pilot roles.
Both professionals work for the Saudi low-cost carrier, flyadeal, which is recognized as the fastest growing airline in the Middle East. Their testimonies served to motivate young women and students in the audience about the numerous opportunities available within aviation industries, especially in technical and commercial sectors.
During the conference, Rawan emphasized the relevance of analytical and technical skills in aviation, stating that these capabilities allow women to thrive in technologically driven environments. Hazar shared insights on how understanding customer behavior and feedback are crucial in delivering exceptional service, which is vital in the competitive landscape of commercial aviation.
flyadeal, employing around 1,800 staff, boasts a significant percentage of women working across various operational and corporate roles, including pilots and engineers. CEO Steven Greenway commented that the airline fosters an inclusive environment where women make valuable contributions to the business.
Mervat Sultan, from Women in Aviation Middle East, praised the leadership of Rawan and Hazar for exemplifying the integration of capability and opportunity in the industry. The airline actively supports initiatives aimed at enhancing female participation, such as internships and specialized training programs, including partnerships with Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University to develop female cabin crew professionals.
