Flybondi, the Argentine low-cost airline, has unveiled plans for a major fleet expansion with an investment estimated at around $1.7 billion. The airline intends to purchase 15 Airbus A220-300 aircraft and 10 Boeing 737 MAX 10 jets, with options for additional aircraft, marking the airline's debut as the first Airbus A220 operator in Latin America.
The new aircraft deliveries are scheduled from 2027 through 2029 for the Airbus A220s and from 2027 to 2030 for the Boeing 737 MAXs. The deal, financed by the private equity fund COC Global Enterprise based in Miami, reflects Flybondi's commitment to increasing capacity to sustain and grow its operations both domestically and regionally in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The airline currently operates 14 Boeing 737-800s and one Airbus A320. The fleet expansion aims to enhance operational efficiency and passenger service by incorporating more modern aircraft types. Flybondi also plans to sign multiple ACMI contracts for the upcoming high season, which will add around ten aircraft to its fleet.
This strategic move underscores Flybondi's intention to expand its market share and strengthen its airline network across Latin America, leveraging the capabilities of the new, fuel-efficient aircraft models.
