FlyBy Aviation Academy, an EASA-approved pilot training organization, has announced a significant safety upgrade by equipping 35 of its aircraft with FlyData.io's flight data recorders in September 2026. The system acts as a digital black box, continuously recording high-frequency flight data such as position, altitude, speed, and G-forces, while enabling real-time aircraft tracking.
According to the company, the system allows for rapid reconstruction of flights in three dimensions, aiding incident analysis and safety management. This deployment marks the largest contract of its kind for FlyData.io and makes FlyBy the first flight training organization in Spain—or among the first in Europe—to adopt this fleet-wide technology at such a scale.
Victor Baz, COO of FlyBy, emphasized the operational benefits:
"Equipping 35 aircraft with FlyData.io's flight data recorders gives our operations team a level of visibility we have never had before. From live tracking to detailed post-flight data, this technology allows us to manage our fleet more efficiently and respond faster when it matters."Safety Manager Marcia Nunes highlighted the system's role in strengthening the Safety Management System, providing richer data for incident investigation and instructor debriefings.
The move aligns with broader efforts in civil aviation to leverage advanced data for enhanced safety, training, and operational efficiency. The academy's initiative demonstrates a commitment to integrating innovation into pilot training and fleet management, setting a benchmark for other training organizations in Europe and beyond.
