FTAI Aviation Ltd. has successfully raised $2 billion through its inaugural Strategic Capital Initiative vehicle, surpassing its initial target of $1.5 billion. This funding will enable the company to acquire over $6 billion worth of mid-life, current-generation aircraft, primarily Boeing 737NG and Airbus A320ceo models. The vehicle has already invested $1.4 billion, acquiring 101 aircraft, with total commitments including contracts reaching 190 aircraft, expected to be fully deployed by mid-2026.
The company, supported by a broad array of global investors such as asset managers, insurance firms, and pension funds, aims to leverage its expertise in aircraft leasing and engine maintenance, especially for CFM56 and V2500 engines. CEO Joe Adams emphasized the company's strategic focus on asset management and aftermarket engine services. Kallie Steffes, Head of Strategic Capital, highlighted prevailing market opportunities for mid-life aircraft with extended operational lifespans and associated engine support.
Legal and financial services for the vehicle’s formation were provided by Kirkland & Ellis LLP and Lincoln International LLC. FTAI continues to expand its leasing portfolio and engine repair services, positioning itself for sustained growth in the commercial aircraft leasing market.
