GE Aerospace has committed $125,000 (MYR 513,212.5) to Universiti Kuala Lumpur Malaysian Institute of Aviation Technology (UniKL MIAT) in Selangor, Malaysia, to support initiatives aimed at expanding aviation education and workforce development in the country.

The funds will support programs under the team name FLYTE (Future Leaders in Youth Technical Empowerment) and its partners, including the Youth Aviation Club Malaysia (KRUM) and the Centre of Women Advancement and Leadership (CWAL). These initiatives focus on inspiring secondary students' interest in aviation, bridging industry readiness gaps through technical skills, and promoting instructor excellence and leadership development.

"Malaysia has long led regional aviation education, and we are proud to partner with UniKL MIAT to foster the next generation of technicians, engineers, and leaders," said Kong Hon Leong, Managing Director and Executive Plant Leader, GE Aerospace Engine Services Malaysia. "This investment underscores our commitment to nurturing a skilled aviation workforce capable of shaping the future of flight amid evolving industry opportunities and challenges."

For over 25 years, UniKL MIAT has been Malaysia’s leading aviation and aerospace training hub, providing students with practical experience in advanced facilities amidst a strong global demand for skilled talent in the MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul) sector. The announcement aligns with GE Aerospace’s broader initiatives, including a five-year, $30 million workforce skills program designed to upgrade local capabilities and expand training infrastructure.
