During the IMO Assembly in London, Georgian Deputy Minister of Economy Tamar Ioseliani engaged in discussions with Singaporean officials concerning further cooperation on maritime digitalisation, port sustainability, and regional connectivity. The meeting focused on sharing expertise in port efficiency and logistics optimization, with Georgia aiming to adopt best practices from Singapore's fully integrated port ecosystem.
Georgia's significant growth in civil aviation was highlighted, with over 22,000 regular flights and 6,500 charter flights conducted in the first nine months of the year. Infrastructure projects such as Vaziani International Airport and the Anaklia Deepwater Port are seen as critical components in expanding Georgia's role as a transit hub between Asia and Europe.
Enhancing Maritime and Aviation Collaboration
The discussions also delved into long-term partnerships to foster digital reforms, including the Maritime Single Window and Port Community System, which are vital for streamlining port activities and customs procedures. Both sides expressed interest in developing direct inter-country flights to diversify Georgia’s civil aviation sector and improve regional connectivity.
"Georgia is committed to deepening collaboration with Singapore in maritime innovation, port development, and sustainable transport," said Tamar Ioseliani. "We see great potential in sharing Singapore’s expertise to support Georgia’s ongoing reforms and infrastructure projects," she added.
Overall, the meetings signified Georgia’s strategic focus on strengthening regional links through innovation, digitalisation, and infrastructure modernization, fostering economic growth and regional security in cooperation with Singapore.
