The International Air Transport Association (IATA) announced that October 2025 experienced a notable increase in both passenger and cargo demand. Total international passenger demand grew by 6.6% year-on-year, supported by capacity increases of 5.8%, leading to a high load factor of 84.6%. The strength was particularly evident in regions such as Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, which reported double-digit demand growth, underscoring the sector’s resilience.
Regional analysis indicates that Asia-Pacific airlines achieved a demand increase of 10.9%, with capacity rising by 9.1%. European and North American airlines saw demand increases of 7.4% and 4.5%, respectively, maintaining high load factors. Middle Eastern carriers reported a 10.7% rise, driven partly by low demand levels in the prior year due to geopolitical tensions.
Air Cargo Market Records Record Volumes
In addition to passenger numbers, global air cargo demand surged by 4.1%, setting a new monthly volume record. Capacity increased slightly more by 5.1%, which kept the cargo load factor in the mid-40s percentage range. African airlines experienced the strongest growth, with a 16.6% increase in cargo demand, reflecting robust trade activity.
Overall, the data demonstrates that the aviation sector continues to recover steadily, supported by expanding capacities and consistent demand, particularly during the upcoming holiday season. Industry experts believe this trend signifies a positive outlook for sustained growth into 2026.
