The global aviation industry is showing strong signs of recovery in 2026, with a notable increase in international flight traffic during the first half of the year. Data from Kasikorn Research Centre indicates a 6.8% year-on-year rise, totaling over 7.31 million international flights globally. This growth is attributed to expanded airline routes and increased service frequencies driven by rising global travel and tourism demand.

Thailand, ranking 15th among the world's international flight destinations, has seen a 9% increase in flight numbers compared to last year. The surge is largely influenced by increased flights from China, boosting Thailand's tourism sector and economy. However, analysts caution about potential risks stemming from geopolitical conflicts and fluctuating tourist interests, which could impact future growth.

As the sector continues to rebound, airlines and airports are adapting to the changing landscape with cautious optimism. The ongoing expansion of international routes and greater passenger volumes suggest a positive outlook, provided geopolitical stability is maintained.
