GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes has announced an expansion of its international long-haul operations, including the introduction of Airbus A330-900N aircraft to its fleet. Following the launch of its first long-haul route, the airline plans to serve destinations such as Paris CDG, Lisbon, and Orlando International. The routes connecting Rio de Janeiro to Europe will commence from September 16, with Lisbon operating four times weekly. The frequency for Paris is yet to be determined. Services to Orlando are currently provided using Boeing 737 MAX aircraft from Brasília and Fortaleza but are expected to transition to the Airbus widebody fleet, increasing capacity.
The airline's logistics unit, GOLLOG, intends to leverage the new fleet to establish a cargo hub in Rio de Janeiro, offering approximately 20 tonnes of cargo capacity per A330-900N aircraft, with freight transported on pallets. GOL plans to add five Airbus A330-900Ns to its fleet, with sister carrier Avianca Airlines acquiring two units, all dry-leased from Avolon, managed by the Abra Group.
This strategic fleet upgrade aligns with GOL's broader network expansion and modernization efforts, supporting increased intercontinental capabilities and cargo operations, solidifying its position in the post-pandemic aviation landscape.
