Gulf Air is set to commence a new daily fifth freedom route between Singapore Changi Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport starting October 26, 2026. Operated by its Boeing 787-9 fleet, this service will enable travelers to fly solely between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, as Gulf Air holds traffic rights for this short-hop route. The airline's daily schedule involves flights departing Singapore at 2:20 PM and arriving in Kuala Lumpur at 3:30 PM, with return flights departing Kuala Lumpur at 5:35 PM and reaching Singapore at 6:45 PM.

This new route is an extension of Gulf Air's existing Bahrain to Singapore flights, which it plans to operate daily from Bahrain to Kuala Lumpur, providing a more convenient connection for passengers heading to or from Bahrain. The airline had previously exited Kuala Lumpur in 2012 but returned in late September 2026, initially targeting the Formula 1 race weekend and now establishing the route as a year-round operation with bookings open through September 2027.

Singapore and Kuala Lumpur are among the world's busiest air corridors, with over 34 daily flights already operating. Gulf Air's addition will make it the second carrier with fifth freedom rights on this route, after Ethiopian Airlines. The short flight duration of approximately 70 minutes makes the service suitable for day trips or long weekends, offering travelers a flexible travel opportunity while also providing Kuala Lumpur passengers access to Bahrain and onward connections across Europe.

Gulf Air's Boeing 787-9 aircraft features a 282-seat configuration, with Business Class products offering the Apex Suite in a staggered 2-2-2 layout, giving window-seat passengers direct aisle access. Economy Class seats are arranged in a 3-3-3 configuration with a 32-inch pitch. Ticket pricing for travel in November 2026 starts from S$246 in Economy and S$1,025 in Business, with economy fares including baggage allowances and optional charges for seat selection, cancellations, and date changes.

Overall, this development enhances regional connectivity, optimizes the use of Gulf Air’s widebody fleet during regional layovers, and expands the options for travelers between Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Bahrain. Gulf Air’s plans reflect a strategic move to regain market share on this high-traffic corridor, with full-year bookings now secured through September 2027 and the route expected to contribute positively to the airline's regional operations.
