In 2025, the major airports serving Hainan's Free Trade Port, including Haikou Meilan International Airport, Sanya Phoenix International Airport, and Qionghai Boao International Airport, have collectively surpassed 50 million passenger trips, marking a new record. This milestone reflects the island's growing role as a regional aviation hub, driven by expanded domestic and international flight routes, infrastructure upgrades, and enhanced services. The airports focus on connecting leading Chinese cities and RCEP member states, with direct flights to London, Jeddah, and Minsk launched this year. Notably, the first Chinese passenger route under the "Seventh Freedom of the Air" was inaugurated, raising Hainan's profile as an international air transit center. The aviation industry has also seen improvements in customs operations, smart travel inspections, and service quality, with airports rated highly by Skytrax. Moving forward, the Hainan Airport Group plans to further optimize routes, strengthen stakeholder coordination, and support high-quality economic growth through aviation development.
