Hong Kong Airlines has announced the launch of a new direct service connecting Hong Kong and Melbourne, operating three times weekly. This route marks the airline’s second destination in Australia, following Sydney, and reflects its position as only the second Hong Kong-based carrier in two decades to operate multiple routes to Australia. The service is operated by Airbus A330 aircraft and aims to serve business, leisure, and transit travelers, offering connections across Asia and North America via Hong Kong.
In other regional developments, Malaysia Airlines has resumed its flight operations between Kuala Lumpur and Chengdu, reinstating a key link with Western China. With flights up to seven times a week, the service capitalizes on recent bilateral visa arrangements to stimulate travel demand. Meanwhile, LOT Polish Airlines plans to launch a new long-haul route between Warsaw and Bangkok, starting October 26, 2026. The route will operate year-round with five weekly flights, providing a direct connection between Poland and Southeast Asia, and offering dedicated amenities for travelers with children.
