Amadeus and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) have announced a collaborative partnership through a formalized Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This initiative aims to support ICAO’s No Country Left Behind (NCLB) goal by strengthening the digital infrastructure of member states, focusing on innovations that improve the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of international air transport systems.
The joint effort encompasses capacity-building, technical assistance, and the promotion of biometric interoperability between countries. Areas of emphasis include adherence to ICAO standards such as Document 9303 and the TRIP Roadmap, alongside developing training programs on digital identity and biometric technologies.
ICAO Secretary General Juan Carlos Salazar highlighted the significance of digital identity management as a vital element of air transport development, noting that effective implementation will facilitate sustainable growth. Rudy Daniello, Executive Vice President of AirOps at Amadeus, emphasized the importance of global coordination in deploying new technologies to enhance the travel experience and align with ICAO standards.
The collaboration will initially focus on developing a detailed timeline and roadmap, with early deliverables expected by mid-2026. This effort is expected to accelerate the adoption of innovative technologies that contribute to safer, more efficient, and environmentally sustainable aviation operations.
