India’s Chimes Aviation Academy (CAA), which operates multiple flight training bases across the country, has announced an urgent recruitment process for Assistant Flight Instructors (AFIs) at its Dhana and Neemuch locations. This move supports the academy's expanding training operations and the anticipated increase in student enrolments.

CAA is specifically seeking pilots with an AFI rating and a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) to join immediately. Eligible candidates must hold a valid Class-I medical certificate and have current endorsements on Cessna 172 and Piper Archer III aircraft. The recruitment aims to strengthen the academy’s instructional team and ensure the continued delivery of quality pilot training.

Partnership with IndiGo’s Flying Instructor Program

In 2024, CAA launched the IndiGo Flying Instructor Program (FIP) in collaboration with India’s largest airline, IndiGo. This program offers multi-engine CPL holders a pathway to become certified flight instructors while gaining valuable experience. Candidates can log up to 2000 flight hours, with opportunities to transition into roles such as Junior First Officers and Senior First Officers on Airbus A320 aircraft.

The program also covers the cost of the instructor rating and provides a clear career progression pathway, integrating flight instruction experience directly into IndiGo’s core airline employment pipeline.

According to CAA, this initiative aims to produce highly skilled pilots ready for commercial airline operations and facilitate rapid career advancement. The partnership exemplifies India's growing focus on developing homegrown aviation professionals.
