India's leading airline, IndiGo, has announced that it has stabilized its operations after cancelling more than 3,000 flights last week. The cancellations were primarily due to poor pilot roster planning which led to passenger disruptions and stranded travelers across the country.

In response to this crisis, aviation authorities ordered IndiGo to reduce its scheduled flights by 10% during the winter season. This move more than doubled the initial planned cut, potentially resulting in over 200 daily flight cancellations. The Ministry of Civil Aviation indicated that it considers these measures necessary to maintain overall flight stability.

Despite the operational challenges, IndiGo has committed to serving all its destinations and has been asked to submit a revised flight schedule soon. The airline operates more than 2,200 flights daily and holds a majority share of India's domestic market. Industry analysts warn that these capacity reductions could exacerbate the existing aviation crisis, as other carriers lack adequate spare capacity.

Shares in IndiGo have declined by 15%, reflecting investor concerns over rising costs linked to operational disruptions. The airline was also instructed to implement measures to limit fares, expedite refunds, and improve baggage services. Regulatory entities continue to monitor the situation, emphasizing passenger rights and airline compliance amid ongoing industry adjustments.
