Noida International Airport (NIA) and Akasa Air have announced a strategic partnership to establish India’s first maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at the upcoming airport. This facility aims to support a wide range of aircraft maintenance activities, enhancing operational standards and safety for Indian carriers.
Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of NIA, highlighted that this development signifies a major step towards building a world-class aviation hub capable of bolstering India’s MRO sector. Meanwhile, Vinay Dube, CEO of Akasa Air, emphasized the importance of domestic MRO capabilities for India’s rapidly growing aviation market and long-term operational stability.
Supporting Europe's Aircraft Maintenance
Separately, Airhub Aviation has entered into a maintenance agreement with AerCap to provide base maintenance services at Siauliai International Airport in Lithuania. The agreement covers aircraft modifications, engine swaps, and long-term storage, utilizing the purpose-built facilities designed for quick turnaround times. Siauliai’s strategic location and high-security infrastructure make it an ideal base for lessors managing fleet transitions, accommodating up to 25 narrow-body aircraft simultaneously.
This partnership strengthens Airhub's position within the aircraft leasing and MRO market, providing vital services for aircraft operators and lessors alike. Overall, these collaborations underscore ongoing investments in aircraft maintenance infrastructure, vital for supporting global and domestic aviation growth.
