Indian airline IndiGo is set to launch a new international route between Delhi and London Heathrow starting on 2nd February 2026. The airline will operate five weekly flights on this route, utilizing wet-leased Boeing 787 aircraft from Norse Atlantic Airways. These flights will include a dual-class configuration featuring IndiGoStretch and Economy Class, providing travelers with more options for this key corridor.
The new Delhi-London Heathrow service will supplement IndiGo's existing daily flight from Mumbai to London Heathrow, resulting in a total of 12 weekly flights to London from India. This expansion aligns with IndiGo's recent efforts to add multiple international destinations, including flights to Bali, Krabi, Hanoi, Guangzhou, Manchester, and Athens, reflecting its commitment to growing its global footprint.
Pieter Elbers, CEO of IndiGo, stated that the introduction of these direct flights enhances connectivity and travel opportunities between India and the United Kingdom. While the airline has experienced some challenges with network stability, the partnership with Norse Atlantic ensures operational support for the long-haul route. The company plans to operate up to twelve flights weekly to London Heathrow once all services are launched, with future network development remaining to be seen.
This expansion signifies IndiGo’s broader strategy of strengthening international links from India, reinforcing its role in the country’s aviation growth, even as it prepares for transitioning to operating its own long-haul aircraft in the future.
