Indonesia and France have strengthened their civil aviation cooperation through the signing of Annex V to their bilateral agreement, according to Indonesia's Ministry of Transportation. The agreement focuses on enhancing safety, security, oversight capacity, and the exchange of expertise, aligning with ICAO standards. Signed sequentially in December 2025 by officials from both nations, Annex V updates the previous framework under Annex IV, which is now invalid. The cooperation is set to last for six months, with the possibility of extension by mutual consent. The initiative aims to improve the competitiveness of Indonesia’s aviation sector in alignment with global standards.
The signing ceremony included the Director General of Civil Aviation in Indonesia, Lukman F. Laisa, who emphasized the importance of the updated cooperation in meeting the evolving needs of the civil aviation industry. The partnership also aims to develop human resources and oversight capabilities, reflecting a shared commitment to safety and security in civil aviation between Indonesia and France. The agreement supports ongoing efforts to improve adherence to ICAO standards and facilitate knowledge exchange.
This move signifies a strategic step in fortifying international aviation ties, with the cooperation likely to foster better safety oversight and operational standards within Indonesia's growing aviation sector. The collaboration is expected to boost Indonesia's global competitiveness in civil aviation while maintaining high safety and security standards amidst sector development.
