Indonesia’s government has confirmed that fuel and aviation fuel reserves are sufficient to support the upcoming Eid 1447 Hijri travel period, despite ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. According to Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi, national reserves of both aviation fuel and petroleum are managed carefully to meet the expected increase in travel during the holiday season.
He emphasized that the current reserves are enough to sustain air, land, and sea transportation, and clarified that the 21-day reserve figure cited by energy officials reflects storage capacity rather than a depletion point. The government maintains a minimum of 21 days of fuel stocks through regular replenishment, with the capacity to increase reserves if needed.
Indonesia’s reliance on global fuel supply sources involves diversification, with only 20 percent coming from the Strait of Hormuz, allowing the country to access alternative sources to ensure uninterrupted supply. Continuous monitoring and cross-ministerial coordination are in place to handle energy reserves effectively, reassuring the public that transportation services will operate smoothly throughout the holiday period.
Earlier, the Energy Minister addressed concerns that recent conflicts in the Middle East could threaten fuel availability, stating that the observed figures are based on storage capacity and not an imminent shortage. Indonesia’s fuel reserves historically range from 21 to 25 days’ worth of consumption, further ensuring nationwide energy security during the Eid celebrations.
