Plane enthusiasts have long admired the unique approach to Princess Juliana International Airport, renowned for aircraft passing just meters above Maho Beach. In an effort to bring this exciting experience to a broader audience, flight-tracking platform Flightradar24 has introduced a new automated live streaming camera. Operating continuously, the system uses real-time ADS-B data to track flights, synchronized with a PTZ camera supplied by CamStreamer and hosted by ShowMe Caribbean Live Cams.

The camera is strategically located just north of the runway on the eastern side, offering viewers a close-up view of aircraft during approach and departure. This automated system overlays flight identification information and includes live air traffic control audio, simulating an on-site experience while enhancing safety and convenience.

However, the airport's low-altitude approaches are inherently dangerous for spectators. The jet blast from departing aircraft has caused injuries and fatalities in the past, including a reported incident in which a woman died after being struck by the force of a Boeing 737's jet blast near runway 10.

Safety warnings around the airport emphasize the risks involved in getting close to the runway, especially with the low approach angles and powerful jet blasts. Despite the thrill, authorities caution against attempting encounters that could jeopardize safety, reinforcing that the excitement must be balanced with caution.
