International aviation safety authorities have publicly criticized the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) for perceived deficiencies in transparency and compliance with international standards during their investigation into the June 12, 2025, crash of a Boeing 787 aircraft. The incident resulted in 260 fatalities, and the foundation for aviation safety alleges that critical investigative documents have not been made available to the public despite being accessible to Air India and Boeing immediately after the incident.

The critique highlights that data from the aircraft’s ACARS and Airplane Health Management systems, which contain crucial information about the aircraft’s systems failures, have not been disclosed. According to the foundation, this withholding may hinder full understanding of the causes of the crash and deprives the aviation community of vital safety warnings. The organization stresses that under ICAO guidelines, investigators are obliged to gather and share all relevant evidence to facilitate transparent safety reviews.

"This lack of transparency and withholding of key data is a breach of international obligation," the foundation states. It calls upon the AAIB to provide an explanation and to incorporate all relevant documents into the public investigation record. They emphasize that airline crews and passengers continue to operate Boeing 787 aircraft without full knowledge of the potential hazards, increasing risks. The foundation insists that open and honest investigation processes are essential to aviation safety and preventing future accidents.
