Japan Airlines (JAL), based in Tokyo, has launched a second Innovation Fund aimed at supporting innovation and investment in the aviation industry and beyond. The fund, managed by Japan Airline Ventures in Silicon Valley, is designed to invest tens of millions of U.S. dollars into startups and projects focused on environmental initiatives, travel rewards, and technological advancements.

This new venture follows the success of a previous fund established in 2019 and is expected to conclude around March 2026. The funds are intended to foster partnerships with emerging companies and expand into new business domains, reflecting JAL's broader strategy to incorporate innovation and sustainability into its operations.

The initiative aligns Japan Airlines with other global carriers engaging in venture capital activities, such as JetBlue Ventures and IAG. By investing in startups and new technologies, JAL aims to support the airline’s growth, improve its environmental footprint, and enhance customer experience through innovative solutions.
