Japan Airlines (JAL) has renewed its CEIV Pharma certification at Narita Airport on October 24, 2025, following an audit by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). The renewal signifies JAL’s continued commitment to high standards in the handling and transportation of pharmaceutical products, including vaccines and biopharmaceuticals. Since obtaining the initial certification in 2023, JAL has enhanced its quality management and logistics for temperature-sensitive cargo.
In response to the rising global demand for pharmaceutical transportation, especially for high-precision, temperature-controlled handling, JAL launched Japan’s first GDP-compliant inter-airport trucking service connecting Haneda, Narita, and Kansai airports in 2024. The recent expansion of the certification scope to include these ground transportation services marks a significant milestone, making JAL the first airline in Japan certified for both air and ground pharmaceutical logistics.
This development highlights JAL’s dedication to expanding its logistics capabilities, aiming to support the increasing need for reliable, high-quality medical cargo transport across Japan and worldwide. The integration of ground and air logistics under a unified certification enhances the efficiency and safety of pharmaceutical shipments, reinforcing Japan's position in global healthcare logistics.
