Jazeera Airways (J9, Kuwait) announced plans to commence operating scheduled flights out of Dammam in Saudi Arabia starting March 26, 2026. The low-cost carrier has previously used Qaisumah as a temporary base and will continue to operate from that airport as well. This expansion comes amid ongoing restrictions that have kept Kuwait's airports closed to commercial flights due to risks related to strikes from Iran.

The airline’s operations out of Dammam marks a strategic move to maintain connectivity in the region, despite the closure of Kuwait's main airports. The airline’s fleet and route network are expected to expand as it adds Dammam to its scheduled routes.

Operational and Regional Context

According to the airline’s data, Jazeera Airways has a base in Kuwait with 53 aircraft serving 70 destinations across 88 routes, with 23 flights daily. The announcement aligns with regional aviation developments, including adjustments by other carriers over fuel crises and political factors affecting flight plans.

“We are committed to providing reliable service despite regional challenges,” said Jazeera Airways.

The carrier continues to adapt to emerging operational realities, and the continued use of Qaisumah signifies ongoing logistical flexibility. The situation with Kuwait being closed to commercial flights remains unresolved, prompting airlines to seek alternative routes and bases in neighboring countries.
