Jet Aviation has commenced operations at its new Fixed Base Operator (FBO) facility located at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport, marking its 12th in the United States and part of a global network of over 30 facilities. The project, initiated with groundbreaking in October 2024 and scheduled for full completion by mid-2026, features a comprehensive array of services catered to business aviation travelers and operators. The inaugural phase includes a terminal, a large ramp capable of supporting the latest ultra-long-range business jets, and access to fueling options such as Jet-A, 100LL, and sustainable aviation fuel, complemented by drive-on ramp access through a private entrance.
David Best, senior vice president of regional operations in the Americas, emphasized the strategic importance of Miami as a growth hub for business aviation, connecting Latin America and the Caribbean. He stated, "A presence here allows us to extend our legacy of seamless service across the U.S. and internationally." The new facility will also boast an LEED-certified 8,500 square-foot building with innovative features like electric vehicle charging stations, photovoltaic panels, and on-site Customs and Border Protection offices. Additionally, there will be 40,000 square feet of hangar space for transient aircraft.
Daniel Larsen, vice president of business development, highlighted the commitment to safety and customer satisfaction, acknowledging the collaborative effort with design and construction teams to realize this project. Upon full completion, the facility aims to deliver a premium experience aligned with the company’s standards.
Established in Basel, Switzerland, in 1967, Jet Aviation has expanded globally, with notable expansions in Massachusetts, Florida, and New Jersey over the years. Its acquisition of two new European locations in Milwaukee and Paris enhances its extensive network. As a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics, Jet Aviation operates around 50 locations worldwide, offering a suite of aviation services including aircraft management, sales, charter, maintenance, and staffing.
