K-Impex Airline Limited, a Nigerian carrier based in Abuja, is preparing to begin scheduled passenger flights after acquiring four Embraer E190 jets. The airline, which initially focused on cargo, expanded into aviation services in 2021, and aims to serve over 40 destinations primarily across Nigeria and neighboring countries. The aircraft, each capable of carrying 98 passengers—comprising 90 economy and 8 business class seats—will be used on domestic and regional routes to maximize operational efficiency.
According to Managing Director Dr. Abel Ozigi, the airline opted for outright purchase of the jets, avoiding capital outflow associated with leasing arrangements. The company is also near completion of the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, a key step before operations commence. In-country maintenance facilities will support the fleet, ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational reliability.
Leadership and Outlook
His Royal Highness Nasiru Ado Bayero, Chairman of the Board, praised the team led by Dr. Ozigi for reaching this milestone. He expressed confidence that the new aircraft would bolster Nigerian and regional air connectivity, especially to underserved destinations. As preparations continue, the airline underlines its commitment to pilot and crew training to uphold safety and service quality standards.
This development marks a significant enhancement to Nigeria’s aviation sector, promising more extensive route options and improved service for travelers. The airline is keen on leveraging its fleet to meet the growing demand for air travel within Nigeria and across West Africa.
