Kaduna State University (KASU) recently hosted a significant regional aviation career awareness campaign, organized by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). The event aimed to introduce students to various career opportunities in the aviation sector, specifically focusing on piloting and cabin crew services.
Held on December 1, 2025, the campaign sought to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional practice, emphasizing safety standards and occupational preparedness. Azeh Benjamin, the NCAA Regional Manager, highlighted the importance of preparing youth for careers in aviation, encouraging active engagement with career counsellors present at the event.
Prof. Muhammed Kabir Dauda also emphasized the NCAA’s role in maintaining aviation safety in Nigeria and its efforts to inform young people about emerging opportunities within the industry. Notable sessions included presentations by Mr. Haruna Nura Suleiman, a certified pilot and flight instructor, who provided a historical overview of aviation and stressed the critical safety responsibilities of pilots. Students were also introduced to the profession of cabin crew by Mr. Edward S. Jonathan, who discussed the roles, training pathways, and importance of cabin crew members in ensuring passenger safety and comfort.
Participants expressed increased awareness and motivation to pursue careers in aviation, inspired by the insights provided during the campaign. The event successfully fostered a broader understanding among students about the diverse technical and service roles that define the aviation industry, equipping them with essential knowledge for their future careers.
