Kenai Aviation, a regional airline operating in Alaska, has suspended all flights as of November 3, 2025, citing insurmountable financial debt accumulated following the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline, known for connecting Anchorage to various Alaskan destinations, had been impacted by a combination of operational costs and a decline in revenue.

Owner Joel Caldwell indicated that the airline was facing financial insolvency and was actively seeking investment to restart operations. The carrier's fleet includes Tecnam P2012 aircraft, a King Air B200, and a Cessna U206F, used mainly for high-frequency regional service and Essential Air Service routes.

Operational Challenges

The airline's financial difficulties have been compounded by community criticism over capacity and reliability issues, especially on routes to Unalakleet following the collapse of Ravn Alaska. The US Department of Transportation has been seeking a new operator for these services, adding to the uncertainty surrounding Kenai Aviation's future.

Despite operational success prior to grounding, the airline emphasizes that it needs capital and partnerships to continue. Caldwell expressed hope that potential investors will emerge to support a possible future relaunch, underscoring the ongoing uncertainty in Alaska's regional aviation sector.
