Kenya Airways has expanded its international presence through a new codeshare agreement with U.S.-based JetBlue Airways. This partnership allows Kenya Airways to place its flight code on JetBlue-operated services departing from New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, enabling connections to several major U.S. cities, including Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Orlando, Atlanta, and Fort Lauderdale.
This development builds upon Kenya Airways’ existing direct long-haul route from Nairobi to New York, further facilitating seamless travel between East Africa and the United States. The airline's strategic move aims to offer greater connectivity and convenience for its passengers, leveraging JetBlue’s extensive domestic network across the U.S.
Strategic Growth and Fleet Overview
As part of its growth strategy, Kenya Airways continues to be a member of the SkyTeam global airline alliance, relying on partnerships to expand its reach. The airline’s fleet comprises six Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners for long-haul international routes, complemented by eight Boeing 737-800s and four Embraer E190 regional aircraft, supporting its regional and domestic operations.
"This collaboration supports our strategy to grow our global network through strong partnerships while delivering greater choice and a more seamless travel experience for our guests,"
said the airline in its statement.
The new agreement underscores Kenya Airways’ commitment to expanding its footprint in international markets, improving travel options for its customers, and strengthening its service offerings across its route network.
