Korean Air and Asiana Airlines celebrated Children’s Day by jointly hosting an aviation education event at the National Aviation Museum of Korea in Seoul, drawing around 200 students for a day dedicated to career exploration and industry insights.
During the event, volunteer pilots and cabin crew from both airlines shared their experiences and provided students with a closer look at aviation careers. A Korean Air pilot expressed hope that the enthusiasm observed might inspire some students to pursue aviation in the future.
An Asiana Airlines cabin crew volunteer emphasized the importance of nurturing future talent, noting the event’s meaningful contribution to their aspirations.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts by both carriers to collaborate on community outreach, especially as they prepare for their upcoming merger. They have been conducting joint youth volunteer programs monthly to promote aviation careers and foster cooperation between their employees.
Such efforts are increasingly vital due to South Korea’s demographic decline, with the lowest fertility rate recorded in 2025 and projections indicating a halving of the working-age population by 2065. Industry leaders recognize the importance of inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals to address the anticipated workforce shortfall of over 8 million workers by 2033.
