Korean Air has announced a significant long-term fleet expansion and investment strategy. The airline plans to acquire a total of 103 aircraft, including twenty B777-9s, twenty-five B787-10s, fifty B737-10s, and eight B777-8F freighters, with deliveries scheduled through April 2039. This initiative aims to modernize its fleet and enhance capacity over the next decade and beyond. Alongside aircraft orders, Korean Air intends to invest in 21 spare engines from General Electric and CFM International, including models GE9X, GEnx-1B, and LEAP-1B.
The new order follows an earlier August 2025 announcement, which also involved commitments to the B777-8F freighter and additional orders of B777-9s, B787-10s, and B737-10s. Currently, Korean Air operates a diverse fleet consisting of various Airbus and Boeing models, along with a dedicated cargo fleet. The company states that these investments are part of a broader strategy to ensure aircraft availability and competitiveness into the future.
The announcement reflects Korean Air’s focus on fleet modernization and strategic growth, supporting its global market ambitions amid changing industry dynamics.
